Pendle Youth Choir

News and Reviews

Friday 9th November saw an informal gathering of Pendle’s Youth and Children’s Choirs at Trinity Baptist  Church in the centre of Colne. The Just Us concert was an opportunity for members of both choirs to take the spotlight in an eclectic night of solos, duos, trios and ensembles performing a range of musical styles to thrill the audience. The friendly and inviting atmosphere showed the choirs’ real strength as an inclusive and fun group of truly talented young people.

Sept 9th saw a fantastic concert at Colne’s Municipal Hall starring distinguished English Tenor Adrian Thompson. The concert also featured, for the first time, The Men of Pendle – composed of the Pendle Youth Choir lads alongside The Arion and The Orpheus. Conducted by David Wilkinson and Matthew Leedam, the Men of Pendle sang an African Trilogy and as well as numbers by Gilbert & Sullivan and Rogers & Hammerstein. Adrian Thompson, accompanied by his wife, Judy, on piano, delighted the packed theatre with a selection of solos which included work by Handel, Mendelssohn and Bernstein.
