Pendle Youth Choir, alongside Haslingden Choir, performed Feel the Spirit on the 13th July 2014. The concert featured American spiritual songs arranged by the esteemed arranger and composer John Rutter. Feel the Spirit was definitely challenging, and the choir worked very hard to get it up to Sunday’s high standard. The choirs were bolstered by a return visit from Samantha Oxbrough, A PYC stalwart currently studying singing at the Birmingham Conservatoire. A big thank you to David, Susan, the caterers, the choir’s soloists Georgina and Katie, Samantha and of course the choirs themselves.

This year instead of swanning off to foreign climes PYC stayed in Pendle based at the wonderful Coldwell Activity Centre. Some 39 youngsters over four days packed in the following: Kodaly and vocal workshops, canoeing in the canal at café cargo, laser tagging in the woods behind the centre, rocking live to the Barlic band The Spacebats, putting on their own talent show and instant panto Aladdin, and visiting Liverpool and Manchester.
